Giles Smith

Before directing, Giles Smith was Creative Partner at Unit9 London. He worked on various prestigious film projects, including ‘Guinness – Paint the Town Black’, ‘Fosters – Good Call Centre’ and ‘Old Spice – Gentleman Hunt’, collectively winning multiple awards.

In 2013 he was approached to join the advertising agency Alpha Century. For close to five years, he worked as Creative Director, regularly collaborating with Virgin Atlantic, Toshiba, Victoria Plum, Addison Lee, Sofology, Cunard and many others. And it was there that he took on the invitation to direct the pivotal films and started to build up his showreel.

In 2018 he decided to completely transition away from agency life and concentrate solely on directing. He has since enjoyed the great success of shooting regularly and crafting his reel to where it is today. His strength is visual storytelling, luxury lifestyle, and travel.

Giles Smith has a wealth of experience working with premium brands and understands how to communicate their qualities on-screen in the best possible way.

Smith is a highly versatile director in challenging shooting circumstances like mountains, cruise ships, trains, and planes. He can make the cast look great and feel comfortable, enabling him to get the most natural and seemingly effortless performances throughout his work.

Smith relishes the finite details from start to finish and takes pride in delivering high-end productions far above expectations on every project.
